If your child will be 5 for the majority of the playing season, then the Kidsport application will still be considered. If your child is 18 at the time of application, they will still be eligible for KidSport.
New funding rounds begin on the 1 July each year.
Applications are open year round, and can be completed online in 3 simple steps:
Ensure you have a photo of your Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card ready to attach as a file online.
The card must be current (not expired) and must display the child's name and individual Centrelink Client Reference Number (CRN).
Remember to allow enough time for your application to be processed before your child’s season starts.
Assessment can take up to 10 to 15 business days during peak season (January to May each year).
Your local government or the KidSport team will assess the application within 10 - 15 business days.
Common reasons for applications being unsuccessful include:
KidSport funding is an initiative to support low income families, therefore a Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card is required.
If your family is experiencing financial distress due to eventuating circumstances, and does not yet have access to a concession card, you may be eligible to apply for KidSport special consideration through a support agent.
This option is also available for asylum seekers, refugees, other humanitarian entrants and children in care (including foster care).
Information to help assist parents with the refund process: first talk to your club about any membership cancellation or withdrawal, then review the guidelines before proceeding with a refund enquiry.
If you are having issues with your application, have made a mistake in your application, or have lost your validation code, please contact the KidSport team for support.
