Mike Stidwell Medal

For outstanding contribution to sport administration

The Mike Stidwell Medal is a prestigious annual award, to recognise the outstanding contribution by a volunteer in sport administration in the Great Southern.

The Medal honours the memory of Mike Stidwell and his selfless, long-term contribution to sport and active recreation in the Great Southern. In addition to his commitment to community endeavours, Mike was the Regional Manager for more than 20 years for the former Department of Sport and Recreation.

Each year nominations are invited from the Great Southern sport and recreation community, for volunteers that have provided outstanding contribution in administration to their association, club and/or organisation. Nominations are assessed by a selection committee who consider performance, type of service, value to the organisation and character.

The Medal was first awarded in 2000. Previous recipients have contributed valuably over and above in roles in administration such as, but not limited to, President, Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer.

The 2024 Mike Stidwell Medal recipient is Alice Rule for her outstanding service to sport. Congratulations Alice!
