The Carnarvon Police and Community Youth Centre (PCYC), Shire of Morawa and the Marra Worra Worra Aboriginal Corporation will share in $107,778 in grants from the 2024–25 round of the Community Place Based Grants Program.

Administered by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC), the program supports organisations in planning and delivering regionally based initiatives to help vulnerable children and young people to achieve positive life outcomes through sport and recreation.

Funded organisations work collaboratively with local governments, Aboriginal leaders and community service organisations to plan and deliver out-of-school sport and recreation programs.

This recent funding means a total of 16 projects have now been funded through the program since 2021, totalling more than $1.8 million in WA Government funding for regional WA communities.

The recipients of the 2024–25 Community Place Based Grants Program are:

  • Carnarvon PCYC — $49,934 for the Youth Boxing and Fitness Program
  • Shire of Morawa — $14,280 for the Youth Morawa Skills Clinics
  • Marra Worra Worra Aboriginal Corporation — $43,564 for the Night Valley Ballers.
