Administered by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, the program provides financial support to state sporting associations (SSAs) to develop strategies and deliver initiatives to recruit, educate, develop and retain coaches and officials. Through this funding SSAs are also supported to help increase the skills pool of coaches and officials in WA.

Projects funded in this round include coaching clinics for polo players, a coaching master class for dragon boaters, working with emerging coaches in swimming, officials’ training in karting especially in country clubs and introducing an apprentice pathway for coaches and officials in squash.

The program objectives are to:

  • Build the capacity of SSAs to provide sustainable programs and pathways to support coaches and officials.
  • Support SSAs to provide access to development opportunities, higher level qualifications and accreditations for all coaches and officials in WA.
  • Support SSAs to develop and implement strategies to recruit and retain coaches and officials.
