The reception event was held at Kings Park and marks the return of international hockey to WA for the first time since June 2021.
The much-anticipated matches will take place 23 to 26 March 2023 with the opening game at Bunbury Hockey Stadium and the next two encounters at Curtin University in Bentley.
Competitiveness between the teams was seen during the recent FIH Pro League matches in Sydney.
The Sport and Recreation Minister welcomed China's visited female players and wished the Hockeyroos good luck as they prepare to play on home soil.
DLGSC’s Acting Executive Director of Sport and Recreation Matt Hayes attended the welcome event and was photographed with Hockey WA CEO Fabian Ross and Hockeyroos goalkeeper Jocelyn Bartram.
The test series opening match on 23 March in Bunbury will be the first hockey international in the South West region since the Hockeyroos played against Great Britain in February 2016.
“There is a strong and passionate hockey community in Western Australia's South West, so the Hockeyroos are sure to get tremendous support in Bunbury. It is a huge coup for the region to host part of this sanctioned international test series,” Hockey Australia CEO David Pryles said.
Bunbury Mayor Jaysen Miguel is looking forward to the social and economics boost from having hundreds of visitors.
“I am thrilled and proud to see Hockey Australia bringing this international showcase to Bunbury and thank them for their confidence in our beautiful city,” he said.
“We have a passionate hockey community in Bunbury and along with our broader community, I know our residents and visitors will be excited to see the Hockeyroos coming to our city and will pack out Bunbury Hockey Stadium in support.”
Children under 12 years of age can go to the games free. Adults who want tickets to see the game can find information on how to purchase tickets via the Hockey WA website.
Additionally, the series will be shown in countries across the world on various platforms and networks, showcasing hockey in Western Australia to audiences on a global scale.
