Intro
I am a geophysicist by formal training, having worked across environment, forensic, and resource geophysics before transitioning into management and executive roles. In 2015 I joined the State Public Service, leveraging my Master of Business Administration (Environmental and Economic Sustainability) as the catalyst for the change in career direction.
Throughout my tenure in State Government, I have led spatial and ICT functions as well as project managed the amalgamation of the Departments of Commerce and Mines and Petroleum to form the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety. Prior to my appointment with the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board, I was the Assistant Director General Business and Corporate Services at the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage. In this role I was responsible for governance, finance, human resources, ICT, and market-led proposals.
The Metropolitan Cemeteries Board is a fantastic organisation that is performing highly, well respected and is acknowledged as a national leader in cemetery management. I am looking forward to learning about the agency’s remit and helping the Board and staff achieve our strategic vision, by consolidating the past and building on the future. There is currently a review of the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board’s governing legislation, which may include opportunities for modernisation.
I understand that the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board has strong relationships with local government authorities, providing support on cemetery services, collaborating, and sharing knowledge across our remit. I am keen to continue to build on these relationships and collaborate where opportunities present so that we can strengthen the management of cemetery and crematoria services for the Western Australian community. Working with local government authorities on opportunities for innovation and increased efficiencies will be a focus for me over the coming 12 months.
