Indeed, it was a big day on Christmas Island when West Coast Eagle Nic Naitanui and AFLW ruckwoman Parris Laurie touched down for a series of football clinics.
Supported by the DLGSC and the islandโs Office of the Administrator, the pair did a series of skills clinics with local boys and girls and attended a fundraiser where they donated a signed shirt for auction. Nic also signed a copy of his latest book, Little Nicโs Big World, for the shire library and the pair chatted with kids, took selfies and signed autographs.
The Cocos Islands also welcomed the pair for a week of Auskick sessions with local school kids. Nic did a book reading and alongside Parris they held a community workshop sharing their personal stories and offering tips on goal setting and building resilience.
To wrap up their visit the pair did a thoroughly local activity by taking part in a game of Scroungers at the local golf club. This team game is apparently the best way to mingle with the locals and requires you forget everything you know about golf!
