  • Rock band Methyl Ethel to embark on promotional campaign for new album.
  • Music manager Hayley Jane Ayres to deliver Sound States conference for WA musicians and managers.
  • Projects funded through Contemporary Music Fund Grant Program.

The band is the project of Western Australian producer and multi-instrumentalist Jake Webb, who received a $15,000 grant to promote the album in the Australian, North American, European and United Kingdom markets.

The funding will enable the band to engage Grandstand PR and Terrorbird Radio for the promotion, who have previously worked with international acts Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party, Lucy Dacus and Warpaint.

The grant program is also supporting WA music manager Hayley Jane Ayres with a $19,932 grant to cover the costs of delivering the two-day mentorship program Sound States.

Sound States provides valuable networking and professional development opportunities for self-managed contemporary music artists and independent managers. It also provides paid work opportunities for the speakers and mentors.

The Contemporary Music Fund Grant Program assists WA contemporary music artists with a broad range of projects that enable them to produce and promote their work, building links nationally and internationally.

Applications are open year-round for grants up to $15,000.
