Teenagers at tennis clinic
  • Sports groups share $18,400 to increase sporting opportunities in regional WA.
  • Netball, athletics, tennis, speedway, cricket and rowing among the sports funded.

The Active Regional Communities program aims to increase the opportunities for regional people to participate in sporting and active recreational activities in WA.

The grants include:

  • Mid West: $5000 to Athletics West to provide free opportunities for people in Meekatharra to access community athletics programs
  • Pilbara: $2000 to the Karratha Kats netball club to assist 10 girls to travel to Broome to compete in the North West NAIDOC Carnival
  • South West: $3500 to Manjimup Speedway Club to conduct the Super Mod WA State Title
  • South West: $1500 to WA Veterans Cricket to host a combined tournament for over 50s, 60s and 70s in the Bunbury region
  • South West: $1400 to Coastal Rowing WA to provide coach training and accreditation to local coaches in the maritime aspects of coastal rowing
  • Great Southern: $5000 to Lower Great Southern Tennis to support a coaching program and coach development and ongoing engagement and support of tennis clubs.  

The Active Regional Communities program is administered by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
