$1.6 million investment in community sport and recreation infrastructure
Practice nets, synthetic bowling greens, sports court covers and increased access to sporting fields at night are just some of the ways the State Government’s latest round of Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF) and Club Night Lights Program (CNLP) funds are being spent.
13 CSRFF projects will receive $974,000, and 13 Club Night Lights Program (CNLP) projects will receive $629,000 following the February 2023 small grants funding round.
The small grants program enables community organisations, local governments and sport and recreation clubs to apply for and receive funds to support the development of high-quality infrastructure and environments for sport and recreation throughout Western
Australia.
Some of the 13 recipients from the February round of Club Nights Lights Program projects include:
- $65,326 for Shire of Capel, Boyanup Memorial Park
- $98,277 for City of Armadale, Cross Park Reserve, Roleystone
- $80,147 for Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes, Bridgetown Sports Ground.
The remaining $386,000 is allocated across a further 10 metropolitan and regional projects to upgrade lighting at various sporting and recreation facilities.
Some of the 13 recipients of the Community Sport and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF)
- $75,757 for Glen Forrest Sports Club Inc to convert 1 grass bowling green to synthetic
- $75,708 for Morley Eagles Baseball Club for the replacement of the baseball practice net at Crimea Park
- $240,169 for Rawa Community School Aboriginal Corporation for installing a new sports courts cover.
The remaining $583,000 will see enable a further 10 applicants to make improvements to their sporting and recreation infrastructure.
The State Government’s CSRFF and CNLP are valuable in providing funding to help local governments and sporting clubs keep Western Australians physically active and participating in sport and recreation opportunities.
The CSRFF July Small Grants Round (for projects from $7500 to $500,000) opened on 1 July and closes on 31 August 2023.
