Reconciliation Week street banners

Planning is well underway for one of Western Australia’s most visual demonstrations of building strong and positive relationships with Aboriginal people, the Reconciliation Week Street Banners program.
The banners, which in 2025 will feature a stunning piece of
artwork from Noongar artist Darryl Dempster, are displayed in communities across
Western Australia during Reconciliation Week from 27 May to 3 June.
Reconciliation WA delivers the program with support from the Department
of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) and the success of
the program centres on sponsorship of single or multiple banners - including by
local government, business, community organisations and the general public.
Sponsorship helps cover the cost of production and last year
more than 350 banners were flown throughout the State. Bookings for the 2025 program
are now open and more details are available at National

DLGSC works to be a conduit for reconciliation through work
across the range of its activities whether it be supporting Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander peoples to share and celebrate First Nations cultures
and languages, helping Western Australians connect to their Aboriginal
ancestry, and nurturing our state’s talented artists, performers and athletes.
Duing last year’s Reconciliation Week, DLGSC launched the
Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan which sets out a framework to support
reconciliation across all aspects of the department’s portfolio
responsibilities and locations.
