Proposed extension to Hillarys Protected Entertainment Precinct

Protected Entertainment Precinct (PEP) laws were introduced by the WA Government in December 2022 to increase public safety at popular entertainment areas in Western Australia, including Hillarys, Scarborough, Perth-Northbridge, Fremantle and Mandurah.

The Minister for Racing and Gaming and the Director of Liquor Licensing (DLL) monitor community safety and alcohol-related harm in all PEP areas to make sure the laws continue to protect residents, visitors, businesses and staff in the area.

The DLL has advised that a proposed extension to the Hillarys PEP is being considered by the Minister under the Liquor Control Regulations 1989.

The northern boundary of the Hillarys PEP is currently located between the coastline and the roundabout at the corner of Whitfords Avenue and Flinders Avenue.

Under the proposed change, this boundary would be extended to the area between the coastline and the roundabout on the corner of Whitfords Avenue and North Shore Drive in Hillarys.

If the proposed change is recommended by the Minister, a final decision will be made by the Executive Council and the change would be expected to take effect on or around 23 January 2025.

The proposed change to the Hillarys PEP is shown in the map below.
