Aboriginal Cultural Centre Steering Committee communique 7

The Aboriginal Cultural Centre (the Centre) Steering Committee (Phase 2) held its seventh meeting on 26 June 2024.

The Steering Committee welcomed three newly appointed members to support the project definition stage of the Centre’s development. The new appointees are:

  • Mr Ronald (Doc) Reynolds (Aboriginal appointee)
  • Ms Vickey Hill (Aboriginal appointee)
  • Director General, Department of Transport.

The following strategies and plans developed for the Project Definition Plan stage of the project were presented to the Steering Committee:

  • Content and Activation Strategy
  • Operational Plan
  • Strategic Workforce Plan
  • Stakeholder Outcomes Report.

Other items of note:

  • Information gathered on a study tour to New Zealand undertaken by the Minister for Culture and the Arts, Chair of the Steering Committee and Committee representatives was presented to the group.
  • A general discussion was held on the asset and ownership models of international cultural centres.
  • The project team will prepare an outline for a proposed working group to consider matters relating to Aboriginal workforce participation which will be considered at the next meeting.
