Athlete Safeguarding Governance and Culture Review of the Western Australian Institute of Sport
The Department of Local Government Sport and Cultural Industries is pleased to announce the Athlete Safeguarding Governance and Culture Review of Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS) has commenced and we are now calling for contributions.
The review will consider the governance and culture at WAIS in relation to athlete safeguarding and will identify areas for improvement and make recommendations that will ensure WAIS is providing a safe and supportive environment for all athletes, now and in the future.
It will also consider WAIS’ policies and procedures in relation to athlete safeguarding, governance, oversight, culture and complaints handling.
The review is currently seeking to engage the following participant groups involved in WAIS elite sporting programs within the past 5 years:
- current and former WAIS athletes, including children and young people
- families of current and former athletes including parents and guardians.
There are a variety of ways you can contribute to the review which include in-person and online sessions. Key insights and issues identified through the review, including during consultation, will be reported in a deidentified, thematic and summarised way.
