The winner of the Emerging Leader of the Year Award at the LG Professionals WA Annual State Conference has been announced as David Bentley, Coordinator of Governance and Strategy at the Town of Victoria Park.
The prestigious award, supported by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC), recognises the leadership and management excellence of an emerging local government leader.
David, who is the Chair of the LG Professionals WA Governance Network, is the founder of the Young Professionals Network and was also a committee member of the Metro Branch in 2021.
Tim Fraser, Executive Director Local Government, at DLGSC said David had demonstrated an outstanding commitment to governance local government.
“Since David started his local government career at the Shire of Murray in 2014, he has worked hard to ensure that the local government sector is equipped to serve its communities in the best way possible.
“It’s important that these emerging leaders are encouraged to keep growing. They are the future managers, directors and chief executive officers of every area that all of us live in.
“Recognising these emerging leaders gives others in the sector role models and a high level of performance to aspire to.
“I would like to congratulate David for being a fantastic role model for other young professionals, and on receiving this award.”
