State Government donates $500,000 to help people of Ukraine
The State Government has donated $500,000 to help the people of Ukraine as they deal with the humanitarian crisis caused by the Russian invasion.
The donation to the Ukraine Crisis Appeal, which is partnered with Rotary Australia, was delivered through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
It will be used to provide emergency relief and humanitarian aid to those affected by the war.
In Ukraine, the devastation has led to a large-scale humanitarian crisis as many people flee the country to seek refuge.
Around 6000 temporary visas have been granted to Ukraine nationals by the Australian Government, many of whom are now in Western Australia.
In recent years the State Government has also provided aid to countries such as India and Indonesia to assist with their pandemic response.
