Department undertaking Cemeteries and Cremation Acts Review
The department is seeking the views and expertise of local governments with cemetery responsibilities to find out more about their experience of cemetery management.
The information will assist its combined review of the Cemeteries Act 1986 and the Cremation Act 1929 (the Review), which started in late October 2020.
This consultation will inform the drafting of a discussion paper for public consultation and assist with the identification of key issues for consideration.
The public discussion paper is intended to be released in the coming months, providing future opportunities for input from local government during the consultation period.
